Cappy Kidd comes to Informed Energy with years of
experience as a carpenter, building contractor, and more recently as a
state-licensed home inspector. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and
has a degree in environmental control technology. He serves on the
board of the Illinois Association of Energy Raters.

'07 term Residential Energy course in Wilbur Wright
Community College's
as a part of The New Building Energy Technologies Occupational
Certificate.
The course details energy systems
and energy efficiency technologies utilized in single- and multi-family
residential building types. Within the course, Cappy and John cover
systems design and installation in both new construction and retrofit
projects and introduces students to field auditing techniques,
environmental impacts (indoor air quality, asbestos, lead, voc’s,
radon, waste disposal issues, etc.), worker health & safety
considerations, Energy Star® certification, building commissioning
procedures, and local regulatory requirements. More information on this

Cheryl Pomeroy has an ecclectic background, befitting the
daughter of a marine scientist raised on Sapelo Island, Georgia. It begins
with a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology, received after fieldwork in
Highland Ecuador in the early 1980s; followed by 15 years as a union
carpenter in Chicago, becoming a journeyman in 1994, and ending with a
career as a licensed home inspector working for her own company in Oak
Park, IL since 2004. She has been working and training part-time with
John Porterfield and Cappy Kidd since 2005. She has one daughter in
college.
